New Delhi: The ongoing war of words between political allies Congress and AAP escalated on Saturday, August 19th. In a fresh twist to the feud, Congress has issued an open invitation to Arvind Kejriwal, urging him to engage in a public debate over the accomplishments of both parties' governments. The provocation comes as a direct response to recent criticisms from AAP against the Congress government in Chhattisgarh. Congress media department head, Pawan Khera, launched this challenge in a clear jab at their once-adversary-turned-ally. Khera's statement seemed to imply that he wished to reiterate that AAP should steer clear of entering the Congress-dominated political territory, particularly in the state of Chhattisgarh. Khera's post read, "Why go to Raipur? The performance of our Chhattisgarh government will be compared with the previous Raman Singh government." This challenge essentially asks AAP if they are prepared to openly debate and compare the achievements of the Congress government in Delhi under their previous rule and the current AAP government led by Kejriwal. In a pointed criticism, Khera contended that Delhi is sliding towards mismanagement and deterioration under Kejriwal's governance. It's noteworthy that Kejriwal's recent rally in Raipur targeted the Congress government, highlighting the alleged poor condition of government schools. Kejriwal claimed that many schools had closed down under the Congress regime and others were severely understaffed. This escalating feud has witnessed both Delhi CM Kejriwal and Punjab CM Mann accusing the Congress government in Chhattisgarh of corruption. However, this assertion isn't shared by Congress, their current alliance partner. As the tensions heighten, Congress leaders are increasingly distancing themselves from AAP's demands. Earlier on the same day, Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit disassociated himself and the party from AAP's calls for full statehood. He asserted that Kejriwal's motives are solely to protect himself from corruption allegations. Pawan Khera's statement further underscores the concern that electing AAP in Delhi has led to adverse consequences.
