Congress protests over unemployment, inflation; Section 144 in place

New Delhi: On Friday, the  Congress party is staging a massive nationwide protest by raising issues of price rise and unemployment.

According to a statement from the party, MPs for the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will host a "Chalo Rashtrapati Bhavan" from Parliament.

The agitators, which include members of the CWC are expected to participate in "PM House gherao" later in the day. The party's state units will hold similar protests across the country.

This comes ahead of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's address today at All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters in New Delhi.

Congress leaders have assembled at the party headquarters in Delhi ahead of the march.

With the exception of Jantar Mantar, the Delhi Police has enforced Section 144 CrPC throughout the entire New Delhi district. The police  said, there will be no protests, dharnas, or gheraos on August 5 in the New Delhi district due to security, law and order, and traffic concerns.

Ajay Maken, a senior Congress politician, said earlier this week that the AICC (All India Congress) had been transformed into a police cantonment and that they had gotten a letter from the DCP telling them they couldn't demonstrate on August 5. The government can try to suppress us all they want, but we'll continue with our plans even if we're imprisoned and protest against things like inflation, unemployment, and the GST on food.

On Thursday, Piyush Goyal and Mallikarjun Kharge, the leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha, argued about the ED summonses sent to the leaders of the Congress. Kharge accused the central government of attempting to intimidate and demoralise the Opposition; in response, Goyal asserted that the government does not meddle with how law enforcement organisations operate.

As part of the continuing money laundering probe, the Enforcement Directorate earlier on Wednesday sealed the Young Indian Ltd office in New Delhi's National Herald building. Sonia Gandhi, the head of the Congress, as well as her son and party leader Rahul Gandhi have already been questioned by the agency.
