BHOPAL: While the BJP-led MP-govt has begun -'Har Ghar Tiranga' to mark the occasion of 'Ajadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav', the opposition Congress party has kicked up for a week-long 'Tiranga Samman Mahotsav' in all divisions of the state.
According to the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), party officials would begin a padayatra (foot march) on August 9 in Indore and end it on August 15 in Bhopal. The party has instructed its top officials and supporters to plan the "Tiranga Samman Yatra" in each of the state's districts and blocks.
On August 10, Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh will join the campaign in Gwalior in place of former MP chief minister and state Congress president Kamal Nath. On August 12, 13, and 14 respectively, top party leaders Kantilal Bhuria, Suresh Pachori, and Ajay Singh (Rahul) will take part in the campaigns in Sagar, Chambal, and Rewa.
On August 14, Vivek Tankha and Rajmanin Patel, both members of the Rajya Sabha, will take part in the campaign in the Jabalpur and Shahdol divisions. Govind Singh, the leader of the opposition (LoP) in the state assembly, will participate in the campaign there.
All party leaders would be there as the campaign comes to a close on August 15 in Bhopal, according to a top Congress leader on Thursday.
On the other hand, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday carried out a march holding 'Tricolour' in Bhopal. Chief Minister Chouhan urged people of state to buy 'Tiranga' from their hard-earned money and hoist it in their homes.
Notably, the state of Madhya Pradesh has set a goal to raise 1.51 crore "Tiranga" (Tricolors) all over the state. While 51 lakh Tricolors would come from the Central Government, one crore Tricolors will be prepared in the state.
