Chhattisgarh: BJP loses Dantewada seat

Jagdalpur: BJP has suffered a setback in the by-election in Chhattisgarh. This shock is big because the BJP, which has been in power for 15 years, does not have a single MLA in Bastar division today. Of the 12 seats in Bastar division, only Dantewada was able to win the BJP in the Chhattisgarh assembly elections held in December 2018. Then Bhima Mandavi of BJP defeated Devati Karma, the currently elected candidate of Congress by 2169 votes. Now Devati defeated Bhima's wife Ojaswi Mandavi by 11331 votes.

Empathy was a big factor in the by-election caused by the assassination of Bhima Mandavi. During the Lok Sabha election campaign in 2019, Naxalites blew up the vehicle of Bhima Mandavi. Earlier, former minister Mahendra Karma, husband of Devati Karma was killed in an attack on a Congress convoy in Jhiram Ghat before the 2013 assembly elections. In 2008, Bhima defeated Karma, in 2013, Karma's Beva Devati defeated Bhima, in 2018 Bhima was successful in defeating Devati.

Now within a year the by-election did not show sympathy in favor of the BJP and the Congress won again. By-elections are being held in Chitrakote assembly of Bastar. BJP leaders say that they will settle the accounts in Chitrakote. Chitrakote seat is vacant due to Congress MLA Deepak Badge becoming MP. Let me tell you that in the last year assembly elections, the Congress, after performing brilliantly, had overthrown the BJP in power for 15 years. In these elections, the Congress got an overwhelming majority.
