Let us tell you that Monserrate was arrested on May 5, 2016. At the moment, he is out on bail. The MLA has already dismissed all charges against him. He had said that he is innocent and the case against him is politically motivated. The victim, in her 2016 statement to the police, had said that Monserrat had sexually abused her by giving the intoxicating substance. At that time, he was only 16 years old. Not only this, the girl had also alleged that her mother had sold her to Monserrat for 50 lakhs. Let me tell you that this matter caught a lot of weight in the politics of Goa.
