In an interview, Mahesh Bhatt revealed that the film 'Daddy' was based on his own experiences. He admitted to having a habit of drinking alcohol. When his wife, Soni Razdan, became pregnant, she requested him to quit drinking, but he didn't pay heed to her. When their daughter Shaheen was born and she came home for the first time, Mahesh Bhatt was intoxicated with alcohol. He continued to drink throughout the night. One day, when Mahesh Bhatt lifted Shaheen to express his love for her, he realized that the newborn had turned away from him due to the smell of alcohol. It was at that moment that Mahesh Bhatt decided to quit drinking. From then on, he never touched alcohol again. He mentioned that people never believed he could give up alcohol, but he showed them otherwise, without the help of any doctor or medication. It was this experience that inspired him to make the film 'Daddy'. Similarly, like her father, Pooja Bhatt also had a habit of drinking. However, after receiving a message from her father, she decided to quit drinking as well.
