Today, February 6th, marks the second death anniversary of the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, fondly remembered as the Indian nightingale, who left an indelible mark on the world of music. To honor her memory, a special program titled 'Sangeetmay Baithak' is set to bring together stalwarts from the music industry in a heartfelt tribute.

Lata Mangeshkar's journey in music began at the tender age of 13 in 1942, spanning over seven decades and encompassing an astonishing repertoire of over 30,000 songs in various Indian languages. Her ethereal voice captivated hearts across generations and earned her the title of one of Indian cinema's greatest playback singers.

The 'Sangeetmay Baithak' event, organized to commemorate her legacy, will witness the presence of Lata Mangeshkar's sisters, Asha Bhosle and Usha Mangeshkar, alongside a constellation of esteemed figures from the music fraternity. Renowned lyricists, musicians, and singers including Alka Yagnik, Udit Narayan, Kunal Ganjawala, Suresh Wadkar, Shaan, Sudesh Bhosle, Shabbir Kumar, Nitin Mukesh, Lalit Pandit, Shailendra Singh, Sanjay Tandon, Annu Malik, Richa Sharma, Madhushree, Jaspinder Narula, Sadhna Sargam, and more are set to grace the occasion.

The event promises to be a star-studded affair with the anticipated attendance of personalities like Javed Akhtar and composers Anandji Bhai, Pyarelalji, Vishal Bhardwaj, and Himesh Reshammiya, among others. Born in 1929 to renowned Marathi classical singer Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar and his wife Shevanti, Lata Mangeshkar's journey from Indore to the pinnacles of fame is nothing short of extraordinary. Her voice, often described as 'virginally pure,' became synonymous with the golden era of Bollywood, providing the melodic backdrop to the performances of iconic actresses spanning several decades.

Collaborating with a plethora of composers including Anil Biswas, Shankar Jaikishan, Naushad Ali, and S.D. Burman, among others, Lata Mangeshkar's versatility allowed her to lend her voice to approximately seven different generations of female actors, from Madhubala and Nimmi in the 1940s to Waheeda Rehman and Asha Parekh in the 60s.
