Bangalore: 64 people, including Congress leader and former CM Siddaramaiah, JDS leader and former CM H D Kumaraswamy and renowned progressive litterateur K Veerabhadrappa, have received death threatening messages in Karnataka, which are now going viral on social media. In these messages, the sender wrote, "Death is hovering over your head, prepare for the funeral." "The police have taken the matter seriously and started investigating.'' Former Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah, former CM Kumaraswamy and the man who threatened to kill 64 people, renowned litterateur K Veerabhadrappa Sat, have described themselves as tolerant Hindus. In his message, he wrote, "You are on the path of destruction. Death is very close to you. Now be ready. Death can shock you in any way. Inform your family members and arrange for your funeral.'' Former CM H.D. Kumaraswamy has warned the government not to take such threats lightly. He has also requested the ruling BJP to provide security to progressive thinker and writer K. Veerabhadrappa and other writers who have opposed the government's silence on "communal polarization" in the state.
