New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi has released financial assistance of Rs 5,000 each to 23,256 construction workers. A total of Rs 11.6 crore will reach the bank accounts of all the labourers in the next one or two days. In fact, the Kejriwal government on Monday released the assistance amount to provide relief to the workers affected by the ban imposed on construction work due to pollution last year. So far, the Delhi government has sent Rs 350 crore in various phases to help individual labourers financially. According to officials, 4.92 lakh labourers registered with the Building and Construction Workers Welfare Board have already been sent the money. Some workers did not get the money due to a lack of documents in their bank accounts. Speaking on the occasion, state Deputy CM Manish Sisodia said that the Delhi government stands with the construction workers at every step of the way. Manish Sisodia further said that the construction workers are the backbone of the country. He said the ban on construction activities in Delhi had affected the livelihood of workers. This financial assistance is being provided to compensate for that.
