Kolkata: In the case of gang rape and murder of a minor in Nadia district of West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been surrounded by absurd statements. The mother of Nirbhaya, the victim of gang rape and murder in 2012, has responded to his statement. Nirbhaya's mother said that if Mamata Banerjee is so insensitive then she has no right to be on the post of Chief Minister. Nirbhaya's mother said that, 'She does not deserve the post of CM, if she makes such a statement about a victim.' Nirbhaya's mother said that, 'If she makes such a statement despite being a woman, then it does not suit her position, on which she is sitting.'

Actually, Mamta Banerjee had raised questions on the victim in this entire incident. Mamta Banerjee had said that, 'How do you know whether she was raped, was she pregnant, or was it a matter of love affair or she was ill.' Mamta also said that if the couple is in a relationship then how can we stop them, it is not UP where this is done in the name of love jihad. On this absurd statement of Mamta Banerjee, Nirbhaya's mother said that this incident should be properly investigated and the guilty should be punished. He said that such statements serve to encourage such crimes. This affects the victims and encourages the perpetrators. Such leaders are only concerned with their vote bank.

The victim's father from Bengal said, 'On April 4, my daughter went to the birthday party on the invitation of Samar Gwala's son. They had dropped my daughter back home at 7:30 in the evening. I was not there, my wife told that a woman and two youths had come to drop her home. We don't know them. We only know that our daughter Samar went to the birthday party at Gwala's house.' The father told that, when she returned from the party, she was bleeding profusely. The next morning his health got very bad so we went to the doctor. By the time we got back home, he was already dead. Victim's mother told that Samar's son has raped my daughter. The people who had come to drop him home had threatened us. That's why we didn't say anything, but now we demand that they be punished.
