Ranchi: As the Income Tax (IT) raids persist at properties associated with Congress Rajya Sabha MP Dheeraj Sahu, efforts have been intensified with additional cash-counting machines and manpower deployed to accelerate the counting of the seized notes. Tax officials suggest that the cash seized during the department's raids on the properties of Rajya Sabha MP Dheeraj Sahu is poised to surpass Rs 290 crore, marking it as the "highest-ever" haul by an agency in a single operation. Initially, over 30 officers, along with bank staff, were engaged in the counting process. To expedite the counting of the seized money, the IT department introduced nearly 40 large and small machines, along with additional department and bank staff. With a substantial amount of cash still awaiting counting, authorities decided to enlist extra cash-counting machines and personnel to hasten the process. Visuals emerging on Sunday depicted officials counting bundles of cash recovered from the properties of Congress MP Dheeraj Sahu. In response to the situation, the Congress has distanced itself from its Rajya Sabha MP Dheeraj Sahu following the discovery of a substantial amount of cash from the liquor company associated with him. "The Indian National Congress is in no way connected with the businesses of Dheeraj Sahu, MP. Only he can explain, and should explain, how huge amounts of cash have been reportedly unearthed by the income-tax authorities from his properties," stated AICC General Secretary Communications Jairam Ramesh in a post on X. Simultaneously, Income Tax Department investigators recorded statements from various company officials and others in connection with the case.
