DMK govt has not taken any new schemes: Palaniswami

CHENNAI: All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) interim general secretary and Ex-Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Edappadi K. Palaniswami has said that the DMK government under MK Stalin has failed to introduce any new projects. He said that the DMK government was inaugurating projects initiated during the period of the previous AIADMK regime.

The former chief minister said, while speaking to reporters at his home in Chennai, that the AIADMK government had declared 11 government medical colleges and a law college, the latter of which the DMK had just inaugurated. The former Chief Minister also mocked the fact that 133 projects in Coimbatore were the subject of 11 tenders but received no bids, adding that this might be because the DMK government demanded higher commission.

He also said that the Supreme Court has ordered that no such meeting be held, hence there would be no AIADMK general body elections. Palaniswami said that he had told the Supreme Court that no announcements had been made regarding the AIADMK general secretary elections after clarifying this with the high court.

The BJP's central leadership is attempting to bring together the Panneerselvam and Palaniswami factions. The BJP national leadership also intends to include the AIADMK and BJP in Tamil Nadu in the bigger alliance, as well as the estranged AIADMK interim general secretary V.K. Sasikala and her nephew TTV Dhinakaran, the source said.
