New Delhi: The Delhi Congress has started preparations for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections. In order to ensure that the names of the candidates in the elections can be announced on time, the party will seek applications from the candidates who want to contest the elections, so that the tickets can be distributed on time. Delhi Congress president Anil Kumar said the party will start distributing applications from Monday for those who want to contest the elections. According to the report, the Delhi Congress president said that the application forms can be taken from Delhi Congress headquarters Rajiv Bhawan, DDU Marg and all-district party offices. He said the last date for submission of applications will be February 15. He said Congress workers had demanded the MCD election form and the party has given them a week's time to submit it. Kumar said the Congress will finalise its candidates for the MCD elections at the earliest so that they can get enough time to campaign. Elections to 272 wards of the three municipal corporations in Delhi are expected to be held in April. In the last MCD elections, the BJP had won a total of 181 out of 272 wards and made a comeback to the government in all three corporations. The AAP had managed to win only 49 wards, while the Congress had won 31 wards in the elections. On the other hand, the AAP, which defeated the BJP in the assembly elections in 2020, is leaving no stone unturned in coming to government in the civic bodies.
