Earthquake hits MP again, panic spreads

Jabalpur: The earth shook due to an earthquake on April 2 in Sihora, about 40 km from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh. The earthquake was felt around 11 a.m. After feeling the tremors for a few seconds, people came running in panic. They immediately came out of the houses. The magnitude of the earthquake was 3.6.

The National Centre for Seismology reported that the earthquake occurred at 11:36. Its centre was 218 km north-east of Pachmarhi, a hill station in Madhya Pradesh. The depth of this centre inside the ground was said to be 23 kilometres. However, there is no news of any loss of life or property due to this earthquake.

Significantly, for the last few months, there has been a continuous increase in the incidents of earthquakes in the country. Last month, earthquake tremors were felt from Rajasthan to Arunachal Pradesh. According to the National Centre for Seismology, an earthquake of magnitude 4.2 occurred in Bikaner. At the same time, the intensity of the earthquake in Changlang, Arunachal Pradesh, was measured at 3.5 on the Richter scale. The earth shook in Bikaner 30 minutes after the earthquake in Changlang at 1.45 a.m. The epicentre of the earthquake was 516 kilometres west of Bikaner. In the last few months, earthquake tremors have been felt in different parts of the country, including Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and the North Eastern States.
