New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the election dates in Himachal Pradesh. Himachal Pradesh will go to polls in a single phase on November 12, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said on Friday while declaring the poll date at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. The counting of votes will take place on December 8. However, the election dates for Gujarat are yet to be announced. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said the notification in Himachal, which has 68 assembly seats, will be issued on October 17. Candidates will be able to file nominations till October 25. The scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on October 27 and candidates can withdraw their claims till October 29. Polling will be held in a single phase on November 12 and the results will be declared after the counting of votes on December 8. The Election Commission said October is the month of festivals and the "festival of democracy" is also going to be included in it. He said that the Election Commission has made preparations for the last several months. Preparations have also been made in view of the Corona epidemic. The Chief Election Commissioner said that the term in Himachal is ending on January 8, 2023. There are a total of 55 lakh voters in the state.
