French Open 2020: Iga Swiatek entered Quarterfinals ousting Simon Halep

Iga Swiatek from Poland ousted the top-seeded Romanian Simona Halep from the Roland Garrons, winning 6-1, 6-2 to reach the quarterfinals. It is her first entry to the Grand Slam quarterfinal. She is the only teenager to reach round four. Last year, at the same ground she got defeated by Halep winning 6-1,6-0 in a time-lapse of just 45 minutes.

Swiatek turned the table on her favor this time. With a crunching baseline and exquisite net play Swiatek punished Halep without a breakpoint. She has won in Philippe Chatrier Court and ended a career-best 17 match winning streak for Halep. Halep fought desperately to win after losing the first set in just 26 minutes and losing the first service game at the start of the second game. But in third game, she managed to save four break points and another five points before being broken again in the fifth game. Swiatek was super cool this time and did not let her nerve excite or tennis that led her to the victory.

“I felt I was playing perfectly. Even I am surprised that I could do that”, Iga Swiatek said. And in another game played at Suzanne-Lenglen court, Trevisan ousted Bertans in 6-4, 6-4 to reach the quarterfinals.
