MATHURA: A rape victim in Mathura attempted suicide by consuming poison after being gang-raped in a moving car. On Thursday night, she was admitted to a private hospital. Meanwhile, Tejveer, the main suspect in the gang-rape, has been apprehended, and the car used in the incident has been retrieved. Tejveer, the accused, is being questioned. A woman was allegedly gang-raped by the accused and his three other accomplices when she returned home after taking the Uttar Pradesh police sub-inspector recruitment exam. The main accused was a woman's Facebook friend who had given her a ride. The accused fled after committing the crime and leaving the victim on the roadway. The primary accused was tracked down and arrested on Thursday after police reviewed CCTV cameras and launched electronic surveillance. The car that was used in the incident was also recovered by the police. On Thursday night, Agra Range Inspector General (IG) Nachiketa Jha and Senior Superintendent of Police Dr Gaurav Grover arrived to the hospital and collected the victim's testimony, promising her of justice. Meanwhile, the UP State Human Rights Commission has ordered Mathura's Senior Superintendent of Police to have the case examined by a jurisdictional level officer and submit a report within 24 hours.
