Lucknow: Gayatri Prasad Prajapati, a minister in Uttar Pradesh's Akhilesh Yadav government, has suffered a major setback from the apex court. The court has refused to hear Prajapati's default bail plea. Refusing to hear the default bail petition, the apex court has asked Gayatri Prajapati to move the high court for bail. Earlier, a Special Enforcement Directorate (ED) court in Lucknow had rejected Gayatri Prajapati's bail plea. The vigilance team had registered a disproportionate assets case against Gayatri Prajapati on October 26 last year. On the same basis, ED started investigations earlier this year on January 14. Preliminary investigations revealed that Gayatri Prajapati had acquired disproportionate property during his stay as mining minister. Vigilance had registered an FIR against former state minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati in July last year in connection with a disproportionate assets case. An open vigilance inquiry found evidence of disproportionate assets against him, after which it submitted the inquiry report to the government. Vigilance had lodged an FIR against him in Lucknow after getting the green signal from the government.
