Shimla: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Himachal Pradesh suffered a major setback on Tuesday. In fact, former BJP state president Khimi Ram Sharma today joined the Congress. After joining the Congress in Delhi, former state minister and deputy speaker Khimi Ram said he was proud to join the party that helped the country get independence. He said that I am not joining Congress because of any anger towards the BJP. I have taken this decision consciously to take the Congress forward in Himachal Pradesh. Khimi Ram further said that he is sure that Congress will be able to form the government in the state as there are a lot of pending issues including corruption, unemployment, inflation, employees and related to pension schemes. He said that we will take these issues to the people of the state and help the Congress form the government in Himachal Pradesh. Himachal Pradesh AICC in-charge Rajiv Shukla gave him a warm welcome at the Congress and said it was a sign of the winds prevailing in the state. AICC Secretary Sudhir Sharma and Tejinder Bittu were present on the occasion.
