NEW DELHI: In the last 24 hours, India has seen 2,706 new cases of the novel coronavirus, with 25 deaths. According to data released by the Union Health Ministry on Monday (May 30), the country witnessed 2,070 discharges in the previous 24 hours, bringing the total recovery rate to 98.74 percent and total recoveries to 4,26,13,440. The number of active COVID-19 cases in India has climbed to 17,698, according to data released today by the health ministry. The total number of active cases was 17,087 as of yesterday. In the last 24 hours, the active COVID-19 caseload has grown by 611 cases. According to the ministry, active cases account for 0.04 percent of all infections. The country's total death toll today stands at 5,24,611. The first death from the COVID epidemic was recorded in India in March 2020. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) reports that 85,00,77,409 samples have been tested for COVID-19 as of May 29. On Sunday, 2,78,267 of these samples were examined. Meanwhile, according to statistics given by the municipal health department, Delhi recorded 357 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, with a positive rate of 1.83 percent and no new deaths owing to the viral disease. This is the third day in a row that no coronavirus-related deaths have been reported in the city.
