India Records Over 43.3 Cr Monthly Digital Transactions, Reports Union Minster Nirmala Sitharaman

New Delhi:  Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman praised the robust digital public infrastructure and the widespread access to digital transactions that has positioned India at the forefront of digitalization. Addressing the Viksit Bharat 2047 Ambassador Campus Dialogue in Pallavaram, she highlighted that India witnesses 43.3 crore digital transactions every month without any charges.

Sitharaman emphasized that India has emerged as a digital infrastructure hub, where the digital public infrastructure seamlessly integrates sellers, buyers, and payment systems. She underscored that 43.3 crore transactions occur digitally each month, showcasing the nation's digital prowess.

Furthermore, Sitharaman credited the efforts of the current Indian government for India's achievement in producing mobile phones for both domestic consumption and export. She attributed this success to initiatives like the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes, which incentivize investment in sectors like thorium, solar energy, and green hydrogen. Sitharaman also highlighted India's collaboration with other nations to advance in the renewable energy sector, foreseeing India's leadership in this domain.

The Finance Minister lauded the achievements of Indian startups, noting their expansion into sectors like space. She highlighted the government's decision to open the space sector for private investment, providing opportunities and support to new players. Additionally, she mentioned the allocation of Rs 1 lakh crore for science and research in the interim budget, which is expected to further boost emerging startups in India.

Sitharaman outlined the indicators of a developed India (Viksit Bharat), citing improved infrastructure, modern schools, and hospitals as key components. She reiterated the Modi Government's focus on achieving the Viksit Bharat goal through infrastructure development.
