New Delhi: With festival season is around the corner, Indian Railway has started preparation for the crowd management and safety of the passenger. In the view of women safety, Indian Railways has launched a new initiative "Meri Saheli" to boost women safety during the high-footfall festive season. Officials have also been directed to enforce and adhere to corona safety protocols and guideline during the peak season and launch awareness campaigns for passengers. In a statement, Railways said, "Railway stations and trains will witness a manifold increase in footfall during the upcoming festive season. To face the challenges posed by increased footfall effectively, especially during the pandemic wherein corona protocol also needs to be rigorously enforced." The statement also said that the field formations were asked to launch an intensive awareness campaign among the travelling passengers regarding the guidelines issued by railway administration to prevent corona. Railway launched new initiative “Meri Saheli” to provide better safety and security to lady passengers travelling by trains as the footfall in stations increases during the festival season. The railway ministry said, " Meri Saheli aimed at instilling a sense of security among the lady passengers and respond effectively to any security-related issue faced or seen by lady passengers”.
