For your information, Bajwa was appointed by the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in 2016. He was scheduled to retire in November this year. According to a sign issued by Prime Minister Imran Khan on the notification, the decision to extend Bajwa's term has been taken keeping in view the security situation in the region. "General Qamar Javed Bajwa has been appointed as Army Chief for another three-year term," a brief notification issued by the Prime Minister's Office said. "The term will start from the date of completion of his current term. "Bajwa's relationship with Imran Khan is considered to be very strong. The Opposition has also been consistently accusing Imran Khan of gaining power in the country with the help of the army.
