New Delhi: On the application of P Chidambaram seeking to surrender before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the INX Media case, the agency told the Rouse Avenue court on Thursday that it does not want to question the Congress leader at present on remand. The ED told the court that the accused could not determine when the investigating agency detained him and how to proceed with the investigation. On this, advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for Chidambaram, said that if he had earlier said in the Supreme Court that if he wants to arrest then why is the ED not taking him in custody while Chidambaram is in judicial custody. They are doing this intentionally so that Chidambaram stays in jail. At present, the order was reserved for Friday (13 September) by Rouse Avenue Court on the application of P Chidambaram. The court will decide on Friday whether Chidambaram can surrender before the ED. Similarly, in the CBI case related to INX Media rigging, the petition of Congress leader and former Finance Minister P Chidambaram was heard on Thursday in the Delhi High Court. On the regular bail plea of P Chidambaram, the Delhi High Court issued notice to the CBI and sought an answer. The next hearing on Chidambaram's bail plea will be held on September 23, while the second petition challenging judicial custody has been withdrawn by Chidambaram.
