K Prabhakar Reddy is TRS pick for Munugode bye-poll

HYDERABAD:  Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy will be the Telangana Rashtra Samithi's (TRS) candidate in the November 3 by-election for the Munugode Assembly seat, the party declared on Friday. Reddy, a former MLA and constituency in charge, was announced as a candidate by TRS President and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR).

KCR  made this decision after reviewing poll results and the views of local leaders, activists, district party leadership, and constituents. K.T. Rama Rao, the working president of the TRS, told reporters that the party would unquestionably win the by-election. He said that the Congress and the BJP would compete for the second and third spots.

Since the beginning of the TRS, Prabhakar Reddy has been an activist, interacting directly with members on the ground.

KTR said that the survey done by Telangana Rashtra Samithi shows that it is ahead of its rivals by 12-13 per cent votes.

He asserted that Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy left his position as an MLA and joined the BJP because his business had been awarded a contract from the Central government worth Rs 22,000 crore.

The TRS leader said that the BJP was planning to distribute Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 to every voter to win the by-election.

Rajagopal Reddy allegedly promised Union Home Minister Amit Shah that he will spend Rs 500 crore to win the by-election, KTR said.

He said that TRS would win the by-election "despite all of their efforts."

The by-election notification was published in the Gazette on Friday by the Election Commission of India. October 14 is the deadline for nominations. Scrutinizing will take place the next day, and the deadline for withdrawing nominations is October 17.

At a public meeting at Munugode on August 21, Rajagopal Reddy, who resigned from his position as MLA and the Congress party two months ago, formally joined the BJP in the presence of Amit Shah. He would probably submit his nomination as a BJP candidate in the coming days. Palvai Sravanthi was declared the Congress's candidate for the by-election last month. She is the child of the late Palvai Govardhan Reddy, an MP.
