Karnataka CM Bommai to host dinner party for Amit Shah on May 3

BENGALURU: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will host a dinner party for Union Home Minister Amit Shah on May 3 at his official residence, during which they will discuss important issues such as the much-anticipated cabinet expansion, which will have a direct impact on the state's Assembly elections.

Former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, senior BJP leaders, and core committee members will attend the event. BJP leaders in the state have been pressuring the government to make a decision on the cabinet expansion as soon as possible.

They are emphasising the fact that the Karnataka Assembly elections are only a few months away, and they won't be able to do anything if more time is spent making decisions, according to party sources.  The leaders will talk about how to ensure that the state government and the party work together and work out any disputes.

They will also talk about ways to keep the Congress out of power and the implications of the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) coalition with Karnataka's Farmers Organization. Although Bommai claimed that he would not discuss the cabinet expansion during his April 30 travel to New Delhi, sources confirmed that he will hold a vital first round of talks with top leaders.
