Mumbai: Balasaheb Tharot, a minister in the Maharashtra government and the chairman of the State Congress Committee, has hinted at not implementing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAB) in the state. He has said that the role of the central leadership of the Congress party against this bill is our role. In fact, before this, the Chief Ministers of three states Punjab, West Bengal and Kerala have announced not to implement the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAB) against the constitution and implement it in their respective states. It is noteworthy that President Ramnath Kovind has given his approval to this bill, after which it has become law now. Senior Congress leader and Punjab CM Amarinder Singh has termed both CAB and National Register for Citizens (NRC) as wrong. The Captain has said that Punjab will not accept this bill under any circumstances, as it is also against the spirit of democracy like NRC. He said that it will not be implemented in Punjab. Let us tell you that a long part of the India-Pakistan border is from the border state of Punjab. The main route to go from India to Pakistan and from Pakistan to India also passes through Punjab and this is the way hundreds of Hindu refugees have come to India.
