Mamta Banerjee claims 30 people have died due to fear of NRC

Kolkata: West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has criticized BJP leaders for allegedly calling protesters opposing the amended Citizenship Act (CAA) as anti-national, saying that Shaheen Bagh and Jamia Millia in Delhi were recently outside Islamia The firing was an attempt to terrorize peaceful protesters.

Mamta Banerjee further said that more than 30 people have died in West Bengal due to the fear of the proposed nationwide NRC. He has stated that NPR, NRC and CAA are like black magic. Will BJP expel me from the country because I do not have my mother's birth certificate. We are not a party with misrule like the Trinamool BJP. Taking a jibe at PM Modi, Banerjee said that unlike the PM who only described himself as a watchman during elections, she cares for people throughout the year and listens to their problems. Banerjee said at a rally in Bangaon, 24 North Parganas, that, I do not belong to a group that spreads hatred among people.

He said that, due to the instigation of BJP leaders, firing incident occurred outside Shaheen Bagh and Jamia Millia. Efforts are being made to intimidate people. Expressing support for the Shaheen Bagh protesters, the TMC supremo said some parties were trying to propagate the issue of the amended Citizenship Act.
