Bhubaneswar: A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan got bullet injuries during a scuffle to stop a commanding officer who was trying to commit suicide with a rifle at a camp for anti-Naxal operations in Odisha. Border Security Force officials gave this information regarding the incident. A BSF spokesperson has said regarding the incident, 'In an unfortunate incident, one of the officers deployed for anti-Naxal operations in Odisha's Malkangiri district attempted to shoot himself.' He told that 'The guard saved him by holding the rifle. In the process, the bullet went off and accidentally hit a BSF jawan working nearby in the camp.'A BSF spokesperson said that the injured person was given first aid and immediately taken to Malkangiri District Hospital. Regarding the injured jawan, he said that the jawan is out of danger and a Court of Inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the facts of the incident. The officer who allegedly attempted suicide using the service rifle is the second in-command rank holder, equivalent to a Superintendent of Police (SP).
