Odisha: Four Boys Drown In Mahanadi Near Cuttack

Bhubaneswar: In the state of Odisha, four children drowned in a Mahanadi near Cuttack. On Saturday, the police were notified. The remains of the youngsters were pulled out of the river on Friday, according to a police spokesman. He claimed the youngsters, who were between the ages of 12 and 14, were from the city's Potapokhari neighbourhood. On Thursday afternoon, the kids went to play along the river.

When the boys did not come home until the evening, family members scoured the neighbourhood for them and discovered their bicycles placed on the river bank at Gandhipalli, some two kilometres from the house, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police Pratik Singh. According to him, police were notified at 9 p.m., after which the fire department and the Odisha Disaster Response Task Force initiated a search operation and found a corpse at 11 p.m.The body was recovered about a km from the spot from where the boys went missing.

The search operation continued throughout the night, according to Inspector S Raut of Chauliaganj police station, and the remains of the remaining youngsters were discovered on Friday morning. He stated that the cause of the boys' drowning is yet unknown. The remains were subjected to a postmortem examination before being turned over to family members.
