MUMBAI: Early Saturday morning saw an unexpected incident on the Panchavati Express, a prominent train connecting Nashik district with Mumbai, when its coaches became uncoupled at Kasara station in Thane. Fortunately, no passengers were harmed during this incident, confirmed railway officials.
Details of the Incident According to Swapnil Nila, Central Railway's chief public relations officer, the detachment occurred around 8:40 am as the train was departing Kasara station. The separation happened between coach number four and five, prompting an immediate investigation into the cause.
Quick Resolution Despite the disruption, railway staff swiftly reattached the coaches, allowing the journey to resume within 40 minutes. Nila emphasized that the coupling mechanism remained intact throughout the incident, ensuring passenger safety.
Causes and Further Delays Railway authorities suspect the uncoupling was triggered by a sudden jerk during acceleration. Additionally, the Panchavati Express encountered further delays later at Kalyan junction due to a track switching issue, extending the delay by over 10 minutes.
