Islamabad: People have suffered a major setback due to the sudden increase in oil prices in Pakistan. The government of Pakistan has increased the prices of petroleum products including petrol and diesel. This increase in oil prices has been from 27% to 66% depending on the product. According to a report by Pakistani newspaper Dawn, the current price of petrol has been increased by 25.58 rupees in a single day. After this, the price of petrol has been increased to Rs 100.10 per liter. Earlier petrol price was Rs 74.52 per liter. The government has told rising prices in the international market due to this increase. In Pakistan, diesel has become more expensive than petrol. Here the price of high speed diesel has increased by Rs 21.31 to Rs 101.46 per liter. Kerosene prices have also increased by Rs 23.50 to Rs 59.06 per liter. Light diesel oil (LDO) has been increased by Rs 17.84 and now its price has been increased to Rs 55.98. Earlier, it was priced at Rs 38.14. According to Dawn's report, the move to increase the prices of petrol and diesel is unexpected, because the prices were increased only last month and the prices were to remain in force till 30 June. This move of the Government of Pakistan has many people stunned as it was out of the schedule and was not motivated by any step of the oil sector regulator, which is a normal process.
