PM Modi to provide homes to two lakh families today under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana

Bhopal: In Madhya Pradesh, 1.75 crore people will get their dreams fulfilled.  The houses for the labour strata of the state have been prepared under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G). PM Narendra Modi will join the programme through video conferencing and entrust people with the keys to their homes.

The event will begin at 11 am and PM Modi will provide the keys to 1.75 crore people. The programme will be accompanied by PM Modi, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan. On November 20, 2016, PM Modi launched the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin and set a target of providing homes to poor by 2022.  About 1.14 crore houses have been constructed across the country so far under the scheme. In Madhya Pradesh, 17 lakh poor families have been given the benefit of the scheme so far. These were families who did not have their own home.

Under the scheme, the beneficiaries receive a government grant of Rs 1.20 lakh, 60 per cent comes from the central government and 40 per cent of the expenditure is raised by the state government. The scheme aims to build 2.95 crore houses across the country by 2022.
