NEW DELHI: President Ram Nath Kovind launched the 'Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain Campaign 2022' here on Tuesday, asking for people's help in making it the world's largest water conservation campaign. The President urged everyone to work on the campaign's targeted initiatives, saying that district magistrates and village sarpanchs would have to play a critical role in pushing the local community to participate actively in water conservation activities. He also challenged everyone to make a vow that, just as India is conducting the world's largest vaccination drive, "we all would make this campaign the biggest water conservation campaign in history." The President added that, based on the exceptional work done by the national water award recipients for water management in their different professions, "we could find hope for a water-secure future." He also expressed confidence that these prizes will serve to instil water awareness in people's thoughts and lead to a behavioural shift.
