Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, Vice President, today emphasised the importance of rebuilding, restructuring, and reinventing our healthcare systems for the post-pandemic age of the twenty-first century. He encouraged all stakeholders, including the government, the corporate sector, and the general public, to work together to enhance India's health infrastructure and safeguard the people's well-being.
In a pre-recorded video message to the NATHEALTH 8th Annual Summit, Vice President said that during the pandemic, we learned many valuable lessons about the challenges in our healthcare system, and that we should use this experience to re-imagine a resilient healthcare system for a new phase in the post-COVID era.
Recognizing that the COVID-19 pandemic has posed a challenge to healthcare systems around the world, the Vice President stated that India has responded wonderfully and demonstrated incredible resilience in the face of adversity. Shri Naidu also commended Indian healthcare professionals, both in the public and private sectors, for their dedication and sacrifices.
Shri Naidu emphasised the importance of giving primary healthcare in rural India an immediate boost, citing the geographical difference in healthcare amenities between urban and rural areas. He praised numerous government programmes in this regard, including Ayushman Bharat, Jan Aushadhi Kendras, and the idea to increase the number of district hospitals, among others, when speaking on the need to reduce high out-of-pocket expenditure on health in India.
