R S clocks 100% productivity in 1st week in the absence of any adjournments

New Delhi: The Rajya Sabha was 100 percent productive this week, with the Upper House making full use of the allotted time during the ongoing Budget session, which had no adjournments.

M Venkaiah Naidu, Chairman of the Rajya Sabha and Vice President of India, praised the Members for the House's seamless operation. He urged the members to keep this enthusiasm going for the rest of the Budget session and into the future.

After the President's Address to the Joint Session of Parliament and the presentation of the Budget, Rajya Sabha debated the Motion of Thanks to the President for 7 hours 41 minutes, with 26 Members participating in the proceedings.

The Rajya Sabha will hold a 12-hour session next Tuesday on the Motion of Thanks to the President's address to the joint session of the two Houses of Parliament, which will also contain the Prime Minister's reply. The Union Budget for the years 2022-23 will be debated for 11 hours. On Friday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is expected to respond to the Budget debates. The Upper House will spend around 23 hours debating the Motion of Thanks to the President's Address and the Union Budget, which are the two primary business items for the first week of the Budget session.
