New Delhi: The administration is on alert in view of rising pollution in Delhi-NCR. In the last one month, polluting sites and vehicles have been very strict. Work on 27 areas has been stopped and a total fine of Rs 76 lakh has also been levied. It has been revealed that the Delhi Nutrition Control Committee (DPCC) and the State Nutrition Control Board of Haryana, Rajasthan and UP have together collected Rs 76 lakh as environmental compensation. The money has been collected from construction sites, vandalized places and polluting vehicles. All of them were accused of breaking the dust control rules. The Air Quality Management Commission (CAQM) has issued instructions to the DPCC and state pollution control departments to take this action. Reports say a total of 174 teams had inspected from December 12, 2020, to January 15, 2021. It has carried out an inspection of 1600 construction and demolition sites. A total of 119 sites were found where the rules were violated. The guidelines for waste management and dust management have been framed by the Environment Ministry. It is also said that all the teams have banned the work at 27 locations in total. Rs 51 lakh was collected from those who did not comply with the rules. In addition, vehicles carrying construction and waste material were also tightened. 563 such vehicles were taken into action and fined about Rs 25 lakh.
