Amritsar: The speculation about the Congress' CM face in Punjab for a long time has now come to an end. Because former Congress president Rahul Gandhi has announced the name of sitting CM Charanjit Singh Channi for the CM candidate. Rahul Gandhi, while addressing a virtual rally, has declared CM Channi as the CM face from the Congress in the state. Some leaders are happy with Rahul Gandhi's decision, while some leaders are angry about this decision. Soon after the announcement of the CM candidate, former Punjab Congress unit president Sunil Jakhar suddenly gave a big jolt to the Congress party. He announced on Sunday to distance himself from the active electoral system. Jakhar made the announcement after Rahul Gandhi announced CM Charanjit Singh Channi as the CM candidate from the party for the Punjab assembly elections. Speaking to the media, Jakhar said, "There is no shortage of people in our party who are capable of becoming CM. Sidhu Saheb must have also been hurt by this decision." Jakhar further said that he was sad that the party president, who was sitting in Delhi, said that for Punjab, only a Sikh face would be beneficial for the CM's post. "Punjab is a secular state," he said, adding that Sunil Jakhar is still concerned about Ambika Soni's statement that 'A Hindu cannot become the Chief Minister of Punjab.'
