Agartala: The BJP has suffered a severe setback in Tripura. Two-party MLAs, Sudip Roy Barman and Ashish Kumar Saha, have resigned from the assembly. Both leaders have also left the party. Both the leaders are reaching the national capital Delhi after resigning. It is being told that both the leaders can take on the Congress.

According to sources, the two leaders are likely to join the Congress on February 10. Ashish Kumar Saha had already resigned from the BJP, but today he also quit the legislative assembly. Just last week, Sudip Roy Barman had hit out at the BJP government, saying there was no democracy in the state. People are living in suffocation. Barman had said that democracy in the state is over. The oxygen named democracy has been taken away and people are suffocating in such an environment.'

The BJP had said that it had an eye on Barman and appropriate action would be taken against him soon. In 2017, Sudip Roy Barman had joined the BJP, leaving the Trinamool Congress (TMC). He was removed from the post of health minister in June 2019. Shortly before he was removed from the post, Biplab Kumar Deb had said that strict action would be taken against the party's enemies who were growing within the BJP.
