West Bengal: Supreme Court refuses to hear plea demanding security of opposition

New Delhi: West Bengal has witnessed several contests in the state this year before the assembly elections are proposed. A petition related to this was filed in the apex court, which said that the security of opposition parties should be enhanced in view of political violence. The apex court said that the issue was raised in the appropriate forum and the petition was rejected.

There was an appeal from the petitioners that political violence is on the rise in Bengal, human rights are being violated. Bangladeshis, Rohingyas are being fraudulently included in the electoral roll to collect votes. The petitioner, in his appeal, also mentioned the attack on BJP leaders earlier, the attack on BJP president J P Nadda's convoy. The apex court, while hearing the plea, said what is the appeal, where the petitioner is from.

It was reported that the petitioners are from Delhi. The apex court said that we are rejecting the plea, which is a proper forum and raise the issue. In West Bengal, political violence has been at its peak since the Lok Sabha elections. Where both BJP and TMC activists are reported to have been killed. Several rallies, roadshows have witnessed incidents like attacks and stone-pelting.
