Chasing the target, Team India lost wickets at regular intervals and the team never looked in a position to achieve the target and eventually piled up 178 runs in 18.3 overs. Dinesh Karthik top-scored for India with 46 runs. Apart from them, Deepak Chahar (31), Rishabh Pant (27) and Umesh Yadav (20 not out) could touch the 20-run mark. South Africa's Rilee Rossouw was named player of the match for his stormy century. At the same time, Suryakumar Yadav, who scored 115 runs in three matches against Australia, also appeared in tremendous form against South Africa. Surya scored 119 runs in three matches against Africa. Suryakumar averaged 59.50 during this period. In this series, Suryakumar hit 9 sixes and 10 fours.

Along with this, Surya was the batsman with the most fours on the list. In the first match, Suryakumar scored a strong 50 off 33 balls. In the second match, Suryakumar hit a fifty in just 18 balls. He scored 61 runs in 22 balls in this match. However, Suryakumar's bat did not work in the third and final match and was dismissed for 8 runs in 6 balls. Suryakumar said after the match, 'Actually I do not look at the statistics. But, I think, that was the demand of the game. My friends send these things (figures and numbers) on WhatsApp, but I don't follow it. The thinking process was the same, I just wanted to enjoy the game. I had to take a step back and build a partnership with him. It didn't work today. Dinesh Karthik needed some game time and I think the way he batted, my No. 4 is in trouble. I haven't thought much about it, but I'm looking forward.'
