Tamil Nadu: Health Minister launches Spl camps to curb seasonal fever

CHENNAI: Ma Subramanian, the health minister for Tamil Nadu, opened 200 special camps with the aim to keep seasonal fever and dengue at bay.

He also highlighted the infections that can spread when the area was pummelling by heavy rain.

"Usually, fever-based illnesses develop during monsoon wet days. As a result of our CM's recommendation, 200 specific fever camps have now been set up around Chennai in 200 wards. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Many thousands of people are anticipated to benefit from these unique programmes. These camps would be held everyday in predetermined locations, such as the slums of Chennai "announced Ma Subramanian, the health minister for Tamil Nadu.

He emphasised the difficulties caused by the current northeast monsoon rains and stated that the administration is looking into the water logging situation.

"The Chief Minister of our government took action to prevent water logging. 90% of Chennai's rainwater drainage system would be finished in 7 to 8 months. Our ministers are always on the ground to assess the situation. As a result of our efforts in the rainwater drainage system, people began to applaud the government "Added he. KN Nehru, state minister for municipal administration, described the steps the state government is doing to address the drainage problem in the area.

"Compared to last year there was double the rain poured in Chennai. We are immediately working to repair roads, clean drainage systems, etc. as we have alerted that it will rain after the ninth rain period. In Chennai, there are about 27 thousand roads. Funds has been allotted for road construction and repairs. It will be completed and finished soon "Nehru said.

Due to heavy rains, the state government earlier on Wednesday declared a holiday for schools in the districts of Chennai, Ranipet, and Thiruvallur.

In the coming days, the Regional Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to extremely heavy rain in Chennai and other nearby districts including Thiruvallur, Kancheepuram, and Chengalpattu.
