CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu on Monday denounced the Karnataka government's decision to build a dam across the Cauvery River at Mekedatu, which was done in defiance of the Supreme Court and without the approval of relevant parties. The Tamil Nadu Assembly unanimously endorsed a resolution proposed by Water Resources Minister Duraimurugan condemning the Karnataka government on the Mekedatu dam issue by voice voting on Monday. The Assembly also urged the central government not to grant the project any technology, environmental, or other approvals. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin praised all parties for unanimously passing the resolution. He stated that the government will take all necessary actions to prevent Karnataka from constructing the dam at Mekedatu across the Cauvery and to protect farmers. Stalin stated that the administration will not accept any federal government sanction granted to Karnataka for the construction of the Mekedatu project. He stated that the Tamil Nadu government will take strong legal action in response to Karnataka's plans. Former Chief Minister and Opposition Leader K.
