Chennai: Tamil Nadu government's actions have resulted in 60.71 percent of the eligible population receiving two coronavirus vaccine doses, Governor R.N. Ravi said. Ravi claimed the administration has taken considerable measures to enhance vaccine coverage against Covid in a speech to the Tamil Nadu Assembly on Wednesday. "On a weekly basis, massive immunisation drives are held across the state. When this government (the DMK government) took office, vaccination coverage was extremely poor, with only 8.09 percent of the eligible population receiving the first dosage and 2.84 percent receiving the second dose "Ravi expressed his thoughts. "Vaccination coverage has increased to 86.95 percent for the first dosage and 60.71 percent for the second dose, with a total of 8.55 crore doses provided in just seven months, thanks to this government's concerted efforts," he added. He said the state administration has expanded the vaccine campaign to include children aged 15 to 18 years old, as well as a 'precaution dose' for frontline workers, health workers, and vulnerable groups over the age of 60.
