On Wednesday, Mizoram reported 347 new COVID-19 cases and six more deaths.With six new deaths, the COVID-19 death toll in Mizoram has risen to 552.
However, the single-day positivity rate fell to 15.66 percent from 23.40 percent the day before. The district of Mamit had the most new cases (96), followed by Aizawl (75). Four new COVID-19 deaths have been reported in Champhai, with two more of it in Aizawl. There are presently 1720 active COVID-19 cases in Mizoram.
Concerns about Omicron have grown in the Northeast, especially after five cases of the variant were found in Meghalaya on Tuesday evening. Two of the five Omicron cases found in Meghalaya had no history of travel.
