New Delhi: In a step forward in the fight against the corona epidemic, immunization of 15 to 18-year-olds is now continuing in India. Registration started from January 1, 2022 after PM Narendra Modi announced it and the vaccine started from January 3. The latest news is that a trial of the nasal vaccine has been allowed in India. The Subject Matter Expert Committee (SEC) of the drug controller general of India (DGCI) has given this permission to vaccine maker indigenous company Bharat Biotech.
The nasal vaccine will be used as a booster dose after the trial is successful. More than 37.5 lakh doses of coronavirus vaccine were given on the second day of immunization of children. On the second day, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh are leading with more than 10 lakh vaccinations. Andhra Pradesh is third, where more than 9 lakh children were given the first dose of covaxin. In Telangana also, about 8 lakh people were vaccinated with the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.
While the national capital, Delhi, has recently completed 100 percent vaccination of its 18+ population, it is yet to get a boost to vaccination in the age group of 15-18 years against the coronavirus. States like West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, which have a large population in the age group of 15-18 years, have also lagged behind in the vaccination drive of the special group. The Union Health Ministry in its latest bulletin has informed that 81,45,038 children in the age group of 15 to 18 years have received the first dose in two days.
