HYDERABAD: Beginning Wednesday, the Telangana State Tourism Department, in collaboration with a private aviation company, will offer a helicopter service from Hanamkonda to Medaram to devotees of the tribal fair. The chopper service to Medaram in Mulugu district for Sammakka Sarakka Jatara, advertised as Asia's largest tribal fair, is operated by Thumby Aviation Private Limited. Officials stated people who are concerned about their health and time can fly to Medaram from Hanamkonda for a short trip to pray. The chopper will take off from the grounds of Hanamkonda's Arts and Science College and land in Medaram village. The operator charges Rs 19,999 per person for the up and down travel. It will also operate a chopper to provide aerial views of Medaram at a fee of Rs 3,700 per person. Those who can afford to fly and don't want to stay put in the wake of the Covid-19 concern, according to district tourism officer M. Shivaji, can use the helicopter service.
