Lucknow: In a tragic incident at Lucknow's Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) hospital, a fire erupted in the operation theatre (OT), claiming the lives of a woman undergoing surgery and a child admitted for heart surgery. The incident unfolded due to alleged negligence on the part of the hospital staff, leading to an immediate response from fire personnel to contain the flames. Prompt evacuation measures were taken to relocate other patients from the affected OT to ensure their safety amidst the crisis. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak swiftly assessed the situation and, recognizing its gravity, directed a comprehensive investigation into the matter. Stressing the importance of accountability, Pathak assured that strict action would be taken against those found responsible for the tragic breach of safety protocols within the hospital premises. The incident raises concerns about the need for stringent safety measures and protocols in medical facilities to prevent such devastating events in the future.
