Uttar Pradesh Secures MotoGP Return in 2025 with Dorna Sports Partnership

Uttar Pradesh is gearing up to host MotoGP Bharat from 2025 onwards, following a groundbreaking agreement with Dorna Sports. This initiative marks a significant milestone for the state, committing over 50% of the required funds to bring back premier motorcycle racing to India.

The partnership, formalized between Invest UP and Dorna Sports S.L., aims to position Uttar Pradesh prominently on the global sporting map. MotoGP Bharat is anticipated to draw international visitors, boosting economic growth in sectors such as tourism and hospitality.

Dorna Sports, renowned for organizing MotoGP races worldwide since 1988, will oversee the logistical aspects of the event. With 34 races across 19 countries and a viewership of over 3 billion, Dorna Sports manages sponsorships, broadcasting, and ticketing for major championships, including MotoGP.

The Uttar Pradesh government has established a high-level executive committee to ensure seamless execution of MotoGP Bharat. The event is scheduled at the Buddh International Circuit near Greater Noida, demanding a total investment of Rs 150 crore. Of this, the state government will contribute Rs 80 crore, facilitated through Invest UP, bolstered by contributions from local authorities.

The Yamuna Expressway Authority will oversee the management of the Buddh International Circuit, ensuring all preparations are completed well in advance of the event. The agreement with Dorna Sports allows Uttar Pradesh to host MotoGP Bharat initially for three years, extendable up to five.

In addition to financial commitments, Invest UP has secured advertising rights at other MotoGP venues globally, promoting Uttar Pradesh as a tourism hotspot during races in key markets.

Fairstreet Sports, the previous partner, is excluded from the new agreement due to unresolved financial disputes. Invest UP plans to issue tenders for selecting a new organizer by September to ensure the successful return of MotoGP to India.
