New Delhi: Air Force Chief Vivek Ram Choudhary on Thursday said the Indian Air Force should be ready for operations at short notice at all times in view of the prevailing geopolitical situation. Addressing a seminar, the Air Force Chief said that some operation may have to be carried out and we are short of time. In his address, he only mentioned the geopolitical situation, did not elaborate on it. However, according to media reports, the Air Force Chief was talking about the ongoing war in Ukraine. The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine has now entered its third month. Air Chief Marshal had mentioned the serious challenges arising from this. Earlier also, Choudhary had said that there are inputs that hypersonic weapons will be used in Ukraine war and the Indian Air Force is also planning to keep such weapons in its stock. About two weeks ago, he had said that high-speed hypersonic missiles are difficult to intercept, so the Indian Air Force should be prepared to deal with it. He said that if a war-like situation arises, logistic support will be the biggest challenge as the reserves of the forces are spread over a large area. The IAF chief said that the army should be prepared for any war that begins immediately and then for prolonged tensions, as is going on in eastern Ladakh.
